Route & Itinerary

Below is an outline of the route plan and itinerary for the pilgrimage. The idea is that we will be going from St Columba's Abbey to St. Columba's Cathedral - taking the relics in procession as we go. Along the way, we will be stopping to pray at various Holy sites on the Isle of Mull.

Day 1

11th June 2022

18 miles

Oban to Pennyghael

0530      Holy Mass in the Cathedral

0630      Procession to Oban Port

0700      Pilgrim's Ferry to Mull

0815      Depart

1230      Lunch

1800      Arrive Loch Beg Bridge

1900     Dinner

Please note that there are no facilities when camping at Pennyghael.

We will be camping in a field. Food will be provided.

Day 2

12th June 2022

13 miles

Pennyghael to Kilvickeon

0600     Rise

0700     Depart

1230     Lunch

1700     Holy Mass at Kilvicheon Chapel

1830     Dinner

2000     Holy Hour

Day 3

Kilvickeon to Iona

0600     Rise

0700     Depart

1230     Lunch

1400     Pilgrim's Ferry to Iona

1500     Holy Mass at Iona Nunnery

1600     Procession to Iona Abbey

1630     Conclusion of Pilgrimage

There are kitchen and shower facilities at Iona Campsite.

Day 4

14h June 2022

Iona: Pilgrim's Rest

This is your chance to explore Iona and rest on the island.

There will be Mass at 10am. Location TBC.

Pilgrims can depart any time they like, according to the travel advice issued beforehand.
